New Electric Ride are a four piece from Sunderland, they play a traditional British blend of psychedelic rock and roll: loosely anchored to a blues base while floating away on fairytale midsummer fantasy. Their debut album, Balloon Age was released on Brooklyn label Beyond Beyond is Beyond earlier this year and, as their title suggest it’s a cosmic ride through space and time on an electric hot air balloon.
Bye Bye (Baton Rouge) is catching a reflection on your round grandma spectacles while looking outside the window of your car. You see the home that you once called your own and the silhouette of your former lover with their head in their hands. As you sigh and look ahead at the empty road ahead you take a last look behind and your mind starts floating away on a multicoloured stream of unconsciousness where memories, former dreams and nightmares all blend into one big heavy trip you’re not sure you want to be on. As you turn the first corner you can the house is out of sight, and while a thunderstorm slowly starts forming behind, you can see the sun breaking up the clouds in the horizon in front of you.
