PICK FIVE ARTISTS/LABELS/PEOPLE THAT GIVE YOU FAITH IN MUSIC

Mike Newman & Dominique Miniaci (Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records)
No two people have given us more faith in music and the music industry and the owners of NYC label Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records. They took a chance on us without having met or spoken to us and gave us the opportunity to be part of what I consider to be the most exciting new label in psychedelia. It’s truly an honour to be involved with BBiB. They prove that taking a risk and being ambitious can pay off with hard work and self belief. Great people.

The Pretty Things
One of our favourite groups of all time and also probably one of hardest working groups of all time. If it wasn’t for bad business deals they could have been as big as the Stones/Kinks/etc. Ambitious, exciting and consistent. We got to play with them last year and they were a really friendly bunch of fellas. Back catalogue is unbelievable.

Nathan Ford (The Active Listener)
Aside from being a top bloke, Nathan deserves more credit for introducing literally hundreds of new bands to a wider audience through his blog – The Active Listener. A genuine aficionado of new music who wants to help out artists he likes purely through his own writing and enthusiasm – something thats hard to come by in an industry where new bands are dependent on pluggers, excessive PR campaigns, money and the all important ‘who you know’.

Don Van Vliet (Captain Beefheart)
My all time music hero. Someone who refused to budge when it came to his art. A total one-off, the likes of which will not be seen anytime soon.

David Bowie
If not purely for “The Next Day” doing so well without him lifting a finger to promote it. Proof that good music stands alone and doesn’t depend on crappy chat-show appearances to sell it.

PICK FIVE ESSENTIAL PIECES OF MUSICAL EQUIPMENT/FX/EVERYDAY THINGS YOU NEED TO MAKE MUSIC

Leslie Speakers
A Big Dose Of Inspiration (Coming from literally anything)
A plethora of cheap Italian Combo Organs
A Few Pints
Kindly Neighbours
