Pure X are an Austin band that started out as Pure Ecstasy, which is pretty much the feeling they give when listening to their music. They have just released a new album, although this cut is from their sophomore album, Crawling Up The Stairs released last spring.
Thousand Year Old Child, just like the majority of their work is pure bliss. A summery guitar floats above a soft distortion that leads the way to cherub-like verse sung by frontman Nate Grace. It’s a beautifully confused landscape in which grittiness and heavenly melodies intertwine. It’s a newborn child’s first memories about its past life, the fears and joys his soul has lived before coming back to this world are about to lead the way to new experiences.
Listen to Thousand Year Old Child below and go get their new album, Angel out on Fat Possum on April 1st.
