Cat Signs is The Growlers‘ bassist Anthony “Stonio” Braun Perry’s side project, which also features Tomorrows Tulips drummer Christina Kee on Omnichord and members of his old band TRMRS. So far their only release was a six minute youtube video of them playing We’re InTune in the studio which came out last fall, as well as a couple of Jam In The Van videos that came out last month.  Now they’ve finally released their first “proper” recording on Soundcloud, an unmastered take of Mirrored You featuring backing vocals by Brooks Neilsen and production work by The Go‘s Bobby Harlow.

Mirrored You is seeing specks of dust floating in the air, dancing on a crack of sunshine through your garage door. You click on the switch to open up and let the light in. As the door revolves into itself, it starts to reveal a pair of tapping feet wearing the same shoes as you. As the door goes up you realise their trousers are the same shade of blue as yours, you have the same belt and are wearing the same shirt. As the door slowly reveals a full figure, you look in front of you and see your own features in the opposite sex, smiling at you and holding a cigarette. You look down at your own hand and see smoke rising through your own fingers. You look back up in front of you and the figure takes a big drag of smoke. As you try to make sense of the situation a car passes by and the sun reflects on its rearview mirror temporarily blinding you. When you regain your vision you’re back in the garage with the door down.The sun’s shining through the crack, into your eyes and as you open your mouth in awe of the situation a thick cloud of smoke comes out.
